Posted with the caption, “Christmas Made Simple,” a voiceover then explains, “Here’s a different way to roast potatoes on Christmas Day.” Then we see the sliced potato pieces stacked on top of each other on wooden skewers to form a tree-like shape. After being brushed with oil and cooked for 20 minutes, the user sprinkles the potatoes with grated Parmesan cheese, salt, chili flakes, and parsley.

That’s why I thought I’d give it a try myself. This is what happened when I made an air fryer for Christmas potato trees.
Tik Tok Potato Christmas Tree Hack – 4 Steps
1. First, I preheated the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. While waiting, I peeled and sliced the large potatoes horizontally into chunks, like pancakes, before stringing them onto wooden skewers. Ideally, each slice should be about an inch thick so that they cook evenly.
2. Stack from the largest size to the top in ascending order to make a tree shape, leaving a small gap between each potato when stringing. I decided to put five to six slices on each, and cut the skewer to just the right size, so they could sit flat in the air fryer.
3. Next, I drizzled a little olive oil around each potato “tree” before placing them in the air fryer to cook for about 12 minutes. While other recipes say 15 to 20 minutes, this depends on how powerful your air fryer is. The air fryer heats up very quickly, so cooking didn’t take much time.
Alternatively, you can take them out once they are brown and crispy around the edges. Always allow any dish to cool before removing it from the air fryer.
4. Finally, add the finishing touches. I sprinkled sea salt, chili flakes, and dried rosemary on a small plate before rolling potato “trees” around. I had no parmesan and no parsley, but the aromatic rosemary gave it more flavor. Once they were covered in the delicious “nice,” they were ready to eat!
Although the Christmas potato trees weren’t as pretty as I’d hoped, they tasted better than they looked. The texture had a delicious crunch, and the spices made it even more flavorful.
You can always switch up the finishing touches depending on your preference, like shredded mozzarella instead of Parmesan or oregano. The best part is, this potato treat is super easy to make—and fun for those very little holiday helpers. Moreover, the bite-sized portions make perfect party meals if you are hosting festive gatherings. I will definitely give it a try during the holiday season.
