Pokémon Reunited Ash and Butter Free After 25 Years: Watch

Pokemon is back in the headlines now, and we have Ash Ketchum to thank for the spotlight. If you haven’t heard by now, the anime icon is preparing to break away from the anime. Pokemon Journeys is over, and after a special series, Ash will be retiring from the anime to make room for two new heroes. Of course, that means Ash’s farewell tour is going to be an emotional one, and Pokémon has already proven that by saying hello to “Bye Bye Butterfree” after all these years.

Yes that’s right. Ash Ketchum just met Butterfly. This moment brought our Pokemon travels to an emotional end as our hero met his best friends past and present. So, if you’re ready to shed a few tears, you can check out the moment below.

Hello, hello, Butterfree

It all happened in the final moments of the Pokemon Journeys finale, and it was quite a scene. The unexpected encounter follows Ash and Pikachu on a sunset stroll when a familiar figure appears from the horizon. A close-up confirms that the figure is Ash’s old Butterfree, and they’re still wearing their ascots. And of course, they’re flying high with Pink Butterfree after all this time.

This adorable encounter definitely brought the internet to tears, and you can hardly blame the fans. If it wasn’t bad enough for Ash to leave, this callback would have done everyone else. After all, Ash said goodbye to Butterfree back in August 1997, so it’s been over 25 years since we’ve seen them. Now, Butterfree has come once again to wish the best for Ash as he finishes his Pokemon adventure. And as 2023 kicks off, fans will get their own chance to say goodbye to Ash and Pikachu.
