James Gunn promises synergy between DC Studios and DC Comics

James Gunn and Peter Safran are actively building the DC Universe from scratch, an all-new franchise set to be a direct competitor to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the initial slate for the costume has yet to be revealed, the DC Universe is said to be a crossover effort between live-action films, TV shows, animated films, series, and video games. The biggest piece of the puzzle—the very source on which everything depends—seems to be missing entirely.

while DC Comics Not going to be involved in the same DC Universe continuity, Gunn himself has confirmed that he’s already working with DC publisher Jim Lee and guarantees there will be some synergy between the two groups. Respond to a running fan mastodon Asked if there would be a format between the films and the comics, he said that he was “already working on this” with his “friend Jim Lee”.

“One of the things that Peter and I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC studios was a certain minority of people online who could be, to put it mildly, loud and unkind,” he says. Gunn wrote to Instagram. Our DCU picks are based on what we think is best for the story and what is best for DC characters that have been around for nearly 85 years. Nobody likes to be made Harassing him or calling him names–but honestly, we’ve been through so much worse. The disrespectful yelling would never affect our actions. We knew there was going to be a period of upheaval when we took this gig, and we knew that sometimes we would have to make difficult and unclear choices, especially in The aftermath of the fractured nature of what came before us. But that means little to us compared to our choices of careers as artists and curators in helping to create a broad and wonderful future for the capital.”

Gunn said some of the first DC Universe projects will be revealed as early as January.
