Oklahoma vs. Florida Cheez-It Bowl preview

Florida State ended the season on tears and had high hopes as an ACC contender next season, but the team would love to finish off the season with a win over a struggling Oklahoma team.

It’s been a tough season for the Sooners under first year head coach Brent Venables, but the team will look to finish the year with a competitive showing against a formidable ACC opponent in Florida.

We’ve got you covered with the latest odds, opt-out news, and best bets for the Cheez-It Bowl:

Oklahoma vs florida predictions and selection

There were quite a few people who walked away from the Sooners after a lackluster 6-6 season. The team lost both starting offensive tackles in Wanya Morris and Anton Harrison and no starting running back Eric Gray as well.

Meanwhile, nearly all of the major contributors will be available for the Seminoles, who had their best season under Mike Norville, going 9-3 and winning their last five games, scoring 38 or more in all of them.

Quarterback Jordan Travis announced that he will be back on the team next season and will be available to bowl, a massive development for what used to be an elite offense. Noles is the top ten nationally in yards per game and yards per carry. The team also ranks as a top 20 unit in terms of explosive success rate.

They will be pitted against a patchwork Oklahoma defense that has not adapted well to first year coach Venables’ blueprint. The team ranked lower half nationally in success rate and yards per tackle. Furthermore, the team was outside the top 100 in red zone touchdown percentage allowed.

This season has derailed for the Sooners and I expect this to be one of the biggest motivational mismatches of the bowl season as Florida State is on the road to next season while Oklahoma is still planning for the future under Venables.

I love Florida State at anything under 10 points, but I also love to increase their team’s total if it’s less than 38.5.
