ChatGPT has been blowing up the internet lately. In fact, the news cycle has been dominated by AI applications as a whole lately.
There is the Lensa AI app, which our very own Kate Kosuche tested to see how the AI would choose to make her “prettier”. There is, too Dall-E 2 (Opens in a new tab) To create digital images from text and point E (Opens in a new tab)An artificial intelligence that generates 3D models.
So what to do chat (Opens in a new tab) an act? The short answer is a “chatbot” that uses machine learning to interact in a conversational way. Open AI (Opens in a new tab)who developed the AI chatbot, says the AI can even admit its own mistakes and reject inappropriate requests.
So if he can handle a conversation, I decided he could handle an interview. This is what happened when ChatGPT asked about itself.

millimeter: Looking at all the news about you lately, I wanted to see if you had time to answer a few questions about what you are up to. do you have time?
GPT: Yes, I have time to answer your questions. As an AI, I don’t have the same time constraints as humans, so I’m always willing to help. What do you want to know about me?
millimeter: So I guess my first question is, what are you exactly? How would you describe your job in your own words?
GPT: I am an artificial intelligence trained to assist in a wide variety of tasks. My primary job is to provide useful and accurate information to users who ask me questions, or to perform tasks that are required of me. I can understand and generate human-like script, and I’m designed to be able to talk to people in a natural, engaging way. My training data comes from a variety of sources, including books, articles, and websites, so I have a wide range of knowledge that I can draw on to help answer questions or provide information on a variety of topics. I’m here to help you, so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
millimeter: you know what? I changed my mind. Explain this to me like I’m five years old.

I’ve been trained on a lot of different information, so I can talk to you and understand what you’re saying. I don’t have a body like you, but I can still communicate through a device like a computer or phone. My job is to help people and make things easier for them. millimeter: Actually, this brings me to the next question I had. So what tasks can you do? Recently I’ve been reading stories that you can negotiate my telegram bill or even help me message my matches on Tinder. Is this true?
GPT: As an AI, I have a wide range of abilities and can assist in a wide variety of tasks. However, the specific tasks I can perform will depend on the specific implementation of the AI system. millimeter: I got you. So what are your biggest limitations then? It seems there are definitely still some things you can’t do.

One of the main limitations of AI systems like myself is that we are only able to provide the information and training data that we have been given. ChatGPT Interview: The Biggest Takeaway
Despite the apparent novelty of interviewing an AI, I think there were a few things that were notable from the experience. First, ChatGPT definitely still has some limitations. While the tone of the conversation was impressive, there were certainly ways to break it, or rather, force responses that felt pre-programmed. In particular, when I asked about the ability to lower your cable bill or message Tinder, she returned a more forthcoming response about AI systems in general. She really couldn’t handle that line of questioning.
For what it’s worth, the version of ChatGPT I’ve interacted with can’t really do these things – at least, not in a way that you’d be aware of. While reports ChatGPT lowers your Comcast bill (Opens in a new tab) Minute, this was done by DoNotPay, which integrates the OpenAI GPT3 API into its proprietary technology. So if you want to negotiate your cable bill, you’ll need to use DoNotPay or a similar service (or try your own) instead of using ChatGPT.
Likewise, people use ChatGPT to send messages to Tinder matches (Opens in a new tab) – Only unknown to ChatGPT. Instead, they write ChatGPT prompts like a ChatGPT icebreaker question based on their interests. The user will then just copy and paste the ChatGPT response, but ChatGPT never interacts with the Tinder app directly.
However, there were things that really impressed me about ChatGPT. In particular, I enjoyed her response to “Explain this to me like I’m a five-year-old.” She felt her response could actually be conveyed to a five-year-old who would likely grasp the concept. For frustrated parents, this may allow them to explain other concepts to their children in an age-appropriate manner, although some of the more controversial topics that children may bring up may still be beyond ChatGPT’s ability to handle.
I’ll definitely be watching ChatGPT to see how potential use cases grow – as long as it doesn’t come for my job.
