Marvel star ‘rules’ himself out of next James Bond run | Movies | entertainment

After Daniel Craig stepped down as James Bond last year, the directors of the franchise — Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson — have been looking for a replacement for him. Marvel fans considered a superhero actor might be their best bet, but Charlie Cox stepped to the plate to state that he wasn’t hoping for his chances in the role.

Cox is best known for playing Daredevil in the Netflix series of the same name. After three phenomenal seasons on the streaming service, the TV show has been cancelled. Last year, he returned as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And earlier this year, he reprized that role again when he appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

Since then, it has been announced that a series titled Daredevil: Born Again will hit Disney Plus in 2024.

In a recent interview with Radio TimesCox talked about his new TV show, Betrayal, while opening up about the possibility of taking on another legendary hero: 007.

However, he noted: “My role in the Marvel Universe has scratched that itch for me.”

On paper, Cox would be a great candidate for the next James Bond.

While the 40-year-old British star is certainly a famous face, he’s not quite a household name yet, and could certainly make a bigger impact on Hollywood by becoming 007. However, he feels he wouldn’t be best suited for the role. .

Cox said: “And if I’ve learned anything from doing this show, and doing a few spy films and TV shows in my career – I did a BBC Two film called Legacy about ten years ago – one of those things I learned while preparing for both that and betrayal is that I I will indeed make a terrible spy.”

He went on to add, “I’m a really bad liar and I need a lot of very basic things in the world of espionage explained to me a few times before I can really understand them, so I guess that probably gets me off.”

Daredevil has always been a major part of Marvel comic books, so Cox will likely be around the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time. And having already teamed up with Spider-Man, he certainly has a bright future – even if he’s not quite as James Bond.

Meanwhile, another Marvel star is currently at the forefront of Bond prospects.

The ever-changing odds have settled in in recent weeks, with a newcomer taking the lead: Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The actor previously played Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Since then, he has starred in Bullet Train, The King’s Man and Tenet.

Although Taylor-Johnson is currently filming the next Marvel movie – Sony’s Kraven the Hunter – but that doesn’t stop him from playing James Bond in the near future.

Ladbrokes recently gave the actor Blindness odds of 2/1 to become Bond.

Bookie Alex Abbate said: “Our dealers were somewhat scratching their heads after seeing Aaron Taylor-Johnson jump to the head of the betting, but he still held the lead in the race to replace Daniel Craig, with Henry Cavill now his closest rival for the 007 party.”
