Rick Astley lets James Gunn know he’s ready to play Superman

DC Studios is getting ready to kick off a new slate of projects after James Gunn and Peter Safran take over as co-CEOs and have been coming up with some interesting new plans. Fans thought Henry Cavill would return to Superman after appearing in Superman Black AdamBut we quickly found out that he wouldn’t. Cavill announced his return back in November, but Gunn quickly revealed that they would be casting a different version of the character very soon. Gunn’s Superman is coming to Metropolis for the first time and meeting all his cool friends. Now, someone has thrown their name in the ring for this role. Co-CEO Rick Astley tweeted a piece of fan art showing him as Superman. You can check out the interaction below.

“It’s been years since I’ve worn this,” Ashley wrote on Twitter. “But it still fits! Ready and waiting @JamesGunn 😉 – Rick x #Superman.”

Gunn and Safran both started their jobs as co-CEOs of DC Studios at the beginning of the month, and it’s safe to say DC’s future looks bright. When the duo was announced by the head of Warner Bros. New Discovery, they released a statement about their excitement for the job.

We are excited to revitalize the theatrical experience around the world as we tell some of the biggest, most beautiful, most amazing stories of all time.”

The latest DC Film released in theaters was the Dwayne Johnson helmed Dwayne Johnson Black Adam. Black Adam will star with Johnson and will also feature Aldis Hodge (UndergroundAnd the Invisible Man(as Hawkman, Noah Centineo)To all the boys I’ve ever lovedAnd the Charlie’s Angels) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (trinketsAnd the trance(Like a Hurricane, Sarah Shahi)L wordAnd the sex / life(as Adrianna Tomaz, Pierce Brosnan)golden eyeAnd the Mama Mia!) as a doctor of fate. Ole Latokvu, Marawan Kenzari, Mohamed Aamer, James Kosati Muir and Bodhi Sabungwe have also been selected.
