What fast food is open on Christmas? [Updated December 2022]

If you’re looking for some fast food options this Christmas, here’s a list of the places that will be open and the places that will be closed.

So your dinner went awry, or maybe family members got sick that morning and had to cancel the festivities. Maybe your Aunt Ida made pork this year and made it with tofu. There are plenty of reasons why you might need to go somewhere on Christmas to eat. Now you’re left wondering, “Well, what’s open?”

And that’s a good question. Oh, are you waiting for me to tell you? Oh no bad luck.

Well according to Thrillist and Dellish, these are the restaurants that may be open closest to you. Just a reminder, most of them are franchises, which means they are owned by smaller groups who operate their restaurants independently of one another.

So it’s likely that not only do they keep different hours depending on where you live, but some may be open while others are closed.

Christmas 2022 hours: Which fast food restaurants are closed?

  • Applebees (call ahead, most will be closed)
  • raise me up
  • Benihana
  • Boston Market
  • Boca de Bepo
  • Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Barrel cracking
  • Del taco
  • religious
  • Domino’s pizza
  • dunkin
  • I wish
  • McDonald’s
  • express panda
  • Perkins
  • Shawnee
  • Starbucks
  • Waffle house

What do you do if fast food places are not open?

Most of these chain restaurants are franchises, so each group’s franchisor may decide whether to be open or closed on Christmas Day depending on a variety of internal factors. So what do you do if you are one of those people who are stuck in an enclosed area?

Well, most gas stations will be open, complete with a kitchen. So are your motorcycles and Wawa’s. If that’s not your bag, you can go to your local drugstore, as most CVS and Walgreens stores will be open and offer a selection of frozen foods.

They also probably have some canned food for sale as well, prepackaged soups and the like.
