With Derek Carr’s future with the Las Vegas Raiders in doubt, these three teams should make offers for the starting quarterback.
The Las Vegas Raiders are still in the playoffs going into Week 17, albeit just barely after losing 13-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the rest of the season, however, the Raiders will not start at quarterback, Derek Carr. Instead, head coach Josh McDaniels will go with Jarrett Stidham for the team’s last two games against the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.
Carr’s future with the team is highly questionable, as the team will have to fully guarantee him nearly $33 million for the 2023 season if he’s listed on February 15. It will be valued at $5.6 million.

FanSided NFL reporter Matt Verderam spoke with a high-ranking executive, who said they believe the Raiders could get a similar return to what the Philadelphia Eagles got from the Indianapolis Colts for Carson Wentz. For those unfamiliar, the Eagles received a 2021 third-round selection and a conditional 2022 first-round selection in favor of Wentz.

The New Orleans Saints need a quality quarterback. Since Drew Brees retired at the end of the 2020 campaign, the team has tried out James Winston, Andy Dalton, Trevor Siemian and Ian Book at quarterback. None of them have the answer in this post.
Normally, with the Saints in the top half of the first round despite still being in contention for the NFC South title, you would look toward draft prospects. The problem is, they don’t have a first-round pick this year, as they traded it to the Philadelphia Eagles in their very complicated trade last year that netted them two first-round picks in 2022. So, there won’t be a Will Levis or Anthony Richardson heading to New Orleans. By late April.
Given the advertised price to get Carr, the team could still pull it off by flopping a third round this year and a first next year.
The Saints present themselves as an ideal landing site for any quarterback. They have a solid running back to count on in Alvin Kamara, and future star wide receiver in Chris Olaf. There is also the possibility of Michael Thomas returning to be a dominant force in the passing game. Not to mention, Carr’s first head coach entered the league was Dennis Allen, who is head coach of the Saints.
