As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the 2022 season, they will have to try to protect some of their key weaknesses.
As the 2022 NFL season winds down, the playoff picture is starting to come into more and more focus.
The Kansas City Chiefs are 12-3 and quite alive for a top seed in the postseason, but this year it’s been quite the ride. Accessing this record was not easy.
The year started off in odd fashion for the Chiefs, who started off with a blowout of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Just two weeks later, after scoring 44 points against Arizona, the Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts 20-17.
As mentioned, the season started off in a weird way, and things have more or less continued that trend. Kansas City has been a part of some close matches with teams that should have easily beaten them, but they still managed to emerge victorious. With the postseason approaching, the Chiefs need to start looking at why some of these close games are happening.
Every great team has their weaknesses, and the Kansas City Chiefs are no different
Before we get into the weaknesses this Chiefs team carries, let’s establish a simple fact that no matter what, Kansas City is a team that will always terrorize the opposition because of one man: Patrick Mahomes.
Playing perhaps the best football of his career, albeit quietly in a way, Mahomes has been fantastic in 2022. MVP candidate Once again, Mahomes gets it done in several unorthodox ways, as he usually does — and this year without Tyreek Hill, which makes it even more impressive.
Any team that is proud of Mahomes will be able to hide weaknesses. This is a given. No matter how bad the area looks in Kansas City, the fact remains that Mahomes are Mahomes and the Chiefs have a chance no matter what. But when it comes to these specific weaknesses, let’s dig a little deeper and talk about how to hide them in the qualifiers.
