The Carolina Panthers are still somewhat alive in the NFC South, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can clinch that playoff stage with a win in their Week 17 showdown.
I propped up Sam Darnold and the Panthers over Tom Brady’s Bucs earlier in the week because I love the Carolina running game. Maybe Brady has some charm and finds a way to win, but we could still use some backing bets, or maybe I’ll be right on all accounts and win really big.
Here are my top three favorite bets Panthers vs. Bucs to determine a potential division winner.
Best bets NFL Tigers vs Pirates
- D’Onta Foreman over 56.5 Rush Yards (-114)
- Sam Darnold rush yards over 14.5 (-114)
- Leonard Fournette Over 42.5 Yards Rush (-115)
D’Onta Foreman over 56.5 Rush Yards (-114)
Sure, there was the Pittsburgh game where Carolina forgot to run the ball, but that was an anomaly.
The Panthers’ motto has been “Keep Pounding” for years and that’s the strategy Steve Wilks has put in place. Last week, they ran for 320 yards against Detroit, and while the Lions have a much worse defense than Tampa Bay, the Bucs aren’t the Bucs of two years ago.
Foreman could lead this team to an unlikely playoff appearance.
Sam Darnold rush yards over 14.5 (-114)
Chupa Hubbard is the No. 2 rusher in that backfield, but Darnold is the No. 3 rusher. He’s been using his legs fairly effectively since taking the starting job. Not a huge size at all, but last week he had six carries for 19 yards and a touchdown, and two weeks ago he had four carries for 30 yards.
Running the ball seems to have become part of Darnold’s repertoire as he has been playing the best football of his career in the past four weeks.
Leonard Fournette Over 42.5 Yards Rush (-115)
Playoff Lenny is the lead on the worst rushing team in the entire NFL. The Bucs run for 77.0 yards per game, but this past week Fournette is starting to catch on again. He had 20 attempts and finished with 72 yards. Not effective at all, but the size is all I’m looking for.
