How to watch 2023 New Year’s Eve online

New Year’s Eve celebrants around the world can catch the famous Times Square Ball Drop live from New York City online – for free, without commercials – along with a host of musical performances and other festivities that usher in 2023.

The six-hour live stream of Times Square 2023 will begin at 6 PM ET on December 31, 2022, and end at 12:15 AM ET on January 1, 2023. The show will be available on multiple websites, including TimesSquareNYC.orgAnd the LiveStream.com/2023 And the TimesSquareBall.netpowered by Vimeo’s Livestream platform.

The live New Year’s Eve broadcast in Times Square will feature artists including Chelsea Cutler — who will perform several of her hits around 7pm ET before continuing her New Year’s Eve tradition of singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” just before midnight — As well as JVKE, Jax, Ava Max, J-Hope, Osmani Garcia, New Edition, Sich and Duran Duran.

On traditional television, Times Square will also be a central location as part of the slate of programs broadcast on ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. This will include Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC (scheduled to feature live performances by Duran Duran, Jax, J-Hope, and New Edition), and New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. On CNN (featuring Ava Max) and Univision’s “¡Feliz 2023!” (featuring Sech and Osmani Garcia).

The evening will kick off at 6pm ET with the lighting and raising of the New Year’s Eve Ball at the top of One Times Square. Returning as the live broadcast host is actor and TV personality Jonathan Bennett (“Mean Girls,” Hallmark “The Holiday Sitter,” Food Network’s Cake Wars). Bennett will be joined by co-host Jeremy Hassell, who has been a part of Times Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration since 2016.

A live stream of Times Square will also be available on the free VNYE app (vnye.com) of Jamestown, the real estate company that owns One Times Square. With VNYE, users can virtually explore the sights of Times Square, play games, and live stream New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square and around the world.

The annual event is jointly organized by the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment. This year marks the 118th New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square, which began when in 1904 the owners of One Times Square held their first New Year’s rooftop party.

The first ball-lowering ceremony took place in Times Square in 1907. On New Year’s Eve, the nearly 6-ton ball — 12 feet in diameter and equipped with 2,688 Waterford crystal triangles and 32,256 LEDs — is set to descend from above The 26-story One Times Square building that starts 60 seconds before midnight local time.
