John Cena gives a candid presentation after WWE SmackDown

Anticipation for tonight’s WWE SmackDown was high thanks to the return of John Cena, who was returning to WWE for his one and only match of the year. He was teaming with Kevin Owens to take on The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn, and after picking up the win, Cena took a moment to deliver a heartfelt promo after SmackDown went off air. Cena thanked the fans for letting him do this for the past 20 years, then thanked them for a great 2022 before telling them to be safe in the New Year and look forward to 2023.

After hitting his music and getting back on top again, Cena said “Because none of this exists without you. Thank you for a great 20 year run. Thank you for a great 2022. Everyone’s going to be safe tomorrow night, and let’s go one hell of a ride in The year is 2023. Thanks for coming out.”

This was Cena’s only wrestling match in 2022, and in achieving this, it maintains his 20-year streak of having at least one match every year. It likely won’t happen next year like it did this year, as recent reports suggest he’s going to have a match against someone at WrestleMania 39.

According to a report released earlier today, that opponent is currently set to be Logan Paul. Paul previously said he wanted a match against Cena at WrestleMania, but he too was sidelined due to an injury he sustained at Crown Jewel in his match against Roman Reigns. The good news is that he’s already doing physical therapy for that injury and doesn’t appear to require any surgery, so he should be ready by WrestleMania.

If Cena vs Paul happens, it will make for another high-profile match for Paul since he joined the company. Paul’s first match was in a tag team with The Miz, though The Miz ended up being defeated. Paul was then signed and his first match as part of the company was against The Miz. He was then awarded a match against Reigns at Crown Jewel, and although he lost, he put in a great show in only his third match.

Now it looks like he’s going to take on Cena, and if he does that will definitely get people talking about whether they love her or hate her.
