When the calendar flipped to 2023, the clock officially struck midnight on the Buckeyes season. The #4 seed in the College Football Playoff, the #1 seed, gave the defending national champion everything he could handle in his national semifinal game. Ohio State may have bested Georgia all around the Peach Bowl, but 2022 really was the year of the Dawg. Georgia improved to 15-0.

No, this just didn’t sync on a laptop somewhere. The truly miraculous college football moment happened in real time. Georgia only led Ohio State by a few minutes into the ball game. Although the Dawgs outgained the Buckeyes in the final third of the game, Ohio State played more than good enough to win. Buckeyes quarterback CJ Stroud played the game of his life here.
look. No one should bury Ruggles for his ill-timed spin. It was a 50-yard field that would probably upset the best team in college football the past couple of seasons. To round this out in Atlanta’s Georgia backyard, David Goliath could have really killed it. Lockdown, however, only counts in horseshoes and grenades, as the Dogs have been having their day and are going to head to Los Angeles.
Meeting them at SoFi Stadium will be the brave TCU Horned Frogs in a game no one expects Sonny Dykes’ team to actually win. It would be like Joe Namath’s New York Jets beating the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. Ohio State has earned a great deal of respect for its valiant effort against Georgia, but the Buckeyes are too strong in the program to believe in the power of moral victories.
Although the Buckeyes will grow from this defeat, the Dawgs are ready to pull off the rare repeat.
