The NHL Winter Classic comes to Boston’s Fenway Park this afternoon as the league-leading Boston Bruins host the Pittsburgh Penguins to kick off their 2023 campaign.
The Bruins haven’t lost a game at home at 18-0-3 this season, but now they’re taking their talents outside against a scribbling Penguins team; Not recording a win in the last four competitions.

The surface of these games is always a bit wonky, and teams can be out of their element when playing outdoors, even those who’ve had experience in these situations before.
I love Boston, but hovering near -200 on the money line is not something I’m really looking to bet on. Instead, I’m going to focus on one of their stars in David Pastrnak for getting past the shot-on-goal support at 4.5.
Combined with just one puzzling shot on goal in their 3-1 win in New Jersey on December 28, Pastrnak surpassed that mark by a wide margin in; Getting a SOG six in four of the last five. With the pace expected to be frenetic against a dangerous Penguins team on offense, I’d love for him to continue to keep heavy shots on goal, especially with Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang and Jeff Petry lacking on defense.
