FilmSharks Drops Gustavo Hernandez’s “Lobo Fairuz” trailer

“Lobo Fairuz” (“Fierce Wolves”), the Spanish-language remake of the Israeli revenge thriller “Big Bad Wolves” by Uruguayan director Gustavo Hernandez, releases its teaser trailer EXCLUSIVELY with diversebefore its Spanish theatrical release on January 27 via Filmax.

The massive revenge thriller follows a detective as he tracks down a suspected child killer, a former religious studies teacher who was arrested for the crime, but later released due to a clerical error. Ultimately, the detective teams up with the latest victim’s mother to achieve the justice the law seems unable to provide.

The trailer opens with the detective slamming a suspect’s head against a pool table while drawing parallels to the fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood” about a little girl who goes into the woods by herself and encounters a huge, evil wolf.

Quentin Tarantino hailed Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado’s original “Big Bad Wolves” as the best of the year when it came out in 2013, playing in Tribeca, Fantasia, Sitges, and Busan among others.

The remake rights were negotiated by its producers Avraham Pirchi and Chilik Michaeli of United Channels Movies with FilmSharks CEO Guido Rud of Argentina and Mother Superior.

Referring to the delays caused by the pandemic, Rudd said: “We are delighted to finally release the international trailer for ‘Lobo Fairuz’.

“I intend to Separating myself from the original film to expose the subject matter through a graceful, raw and visceral thriller, interrogating the audience about the moral decisions, responsibilities and consequences the film’s protagonists will suffer for their actions.”

He added, “The ambition that I aspire to in the movie” Lobo Fayrouz “comes from the context of my region, and allows me to develop the concept of venting injustice as a citizen, father and filmmaker.”

Javier Gutiérrez (“Campeones”), Adriana Ugarte (“Julieta”), Rubén Ochandiano (“Undercover)” and Juana Acosta (“El Inocente”) headline the cast in Hernandez’s fifth feature.

Santiago Segura and María Luisa Gutierrez’s Madrid-based production labels Bowfinger and Amiguetes produced the remake along with Uruguayan label Mother Superior, Hernandez, and Ignacio Cucovich.
