Scott Stallings was probably part of the worst mix-up ever as his invitation to The Masters was sent to the wrong person – but someone with the same name.
You have to imagine PGA Tour veteran Scott Stallings has been eagerly awaiting his invitation to Augusta National Golf Club from April 6-9 to play The Masters in 2023. After all, he hasn’t qualified since 2014 when he missed the cut. But he finally struck it again after qualifying for the 2022 TOUR Championship.
It just didn’t come until Monday morning. But it turns out there was a good reason for that. Augusta National had already sent out an invitation to Scott Stallings, who is married to Jennifer Stallings and lives in Georgia. the problem? They sent it to the wrong person.
Stallings shared on Twitter that he had received a direct message from a man who shares his name and also lives in Georgia and has a wife of the same name who was sent the wrong invitation to play at The Masters.
Truly one of the wildest mixes you’ll ever see.
Scott Stallings sees an invitation to The Masters sent to the wrong person with that name
In all honesty, the “wrong” Stallings in this case was a Good Samaritan. There’s no shortage of people who would have taken the invite – especially since he had the right name – and tried to become the first random person to hit the field at The Masters.
Instead, he reached out to the PGA Tour veteran and even posted confirmation that he was sending it to the appropriate recipient later on Monday.
As for the real Scott Stallings with his Augusta call now on track to deliver, he will have made his third start in the first major of the season in his career as he missed the cut in 2014 and finished T27 again in 2012.
If nothing else, he’s got one hell of a story in the run-up to his comeback after just shy of a decade.
