Spoilers ahead for the movie’s winter premiere FBI Season 5, titled “Second Life”.
FBI It’s officially back on CBS’s 2023 premiere TV schedule, and the first case in the new year was a blast to the past for Isobel. The latest kidnapping leads to the first case she ever worked on… which she believed was her and her ex-partner Jake Reed It has been closed for a long time. She had to face the reality early on that she and Jake put the wrong guy behind bars, but by the end, she reminded me once again that she’s the right series top three. FBI Offers.
Isobel’s first case with the bureau made enough of an impact on her that she kept in touch with the mother of the little girl they thought had been murdered, but she was unaware of one big thing: the man who was blamed for kidnapping young Annabelle and killing so many holes in his confession, he proved DNA that Annabelle was not dead at all. Over the course of the “Second Life” hour, Isobel does her best to close the case once and for all this time, and three specific elements prove that she is more than deserving of her place as a responsible special agent.
Isobel has always been a backup agent
After watching the video of the interrogation from years ago between Jake and the man who would wrongfully take the blame, Isobel comes to some painful realizations. She was on FBI duty when the arrest and interrogation took place that day, and Jake pushed the man – who seemed uneasy – way too hard to make a shaky confession. The implication was that the false confession would not have occurred if Isobel had been present for the interrogation.
Sure, she was in a romantic relationship with Jake at the time, but there’s no reason to think she would have allowed that compromise the way she acted pursuing a case for the office. In fact, she refuses to go out for a drink with Jake at the end of the episode. FBI She revealed her origin as an agent last season; Now, fans know what kind of agent she’s always been and earns her the role of SAC.
Isobel keeps her head in the game
The issue was personal to Isobel, as she went back to the beginning of her career in the office and was visibly shaken when she found out they had put the wrong guy away. However, she keeps her head in the game in a way that other characters do FBI were not able to. earlier this season, OA He was so traumatized by the attack that he was missing things at his job. in the fourth season, Maggie Almost being distracted by her situation with her sister had disastrous results.
for his part, mountains Struggle to stay focused when the personal stakes are high, such as when Rena It was shot last season and when his son got mixed up with the wrong audience in what was supposed to be the Season 4 finale. Isobel couldn’t be more objective and ripped off on “Second Life,” but she definitely didn’t let her personal feelings get in the way of anything!
Isobel saved the day in the field
Isobel doesn’t chase the bad guys out on the field as much as the other characters, but she does join them in trying to track down Annabelle, and the young woman might have been doomed had it not been for the SAC’s daring action. After an explosion (caused by a snap) in the cabin where Annabelle was being held, the rest of the search party gives up on why he went missing, but Isobel runs inside anyway to perform the rescue. She’s been at the center of intense episodes before, but it was nice to see her work in the field again.
