Balaam said the Mount Rose Highway was closed due to “extreme winter weather” and snowfall that has not yet been cleared. The first unit of the sheriff’s department arrived at the scene at 9:30 a.m. PST, Emergency medical services were on site to provide assistance to Renner, Balaam said.
Balaam said Renner was hit by a snowdrop after the machine started rolling when he was not in the driver’s seat. He was injured trying to get back into the car. Renner said he was using his snowcat to remove snow around his personal car at the time of the accident.
