Jerry Jones confirms the Cowboys aren’t gassing in Week 18

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ensures that the team won’t rest in Week 18, because they have some big goals to hit.

The Dallas Cowboys clinched their playoff spot again in Week 15, though they lost 40-34 in overtime to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This became a possibility after the New York Giants’ win over the Washington Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The final week is usually a chance for playoff teams to rest. But, the Cowboys have a lot on the line going into the last week of the season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the media that the Cowboys players would not rest, because there was “a lot to play for.” The Cowboys have a chance to clinch the NFC East title and the No. 1 seed in the conference this weekend.

Jerry Jones says the Cowboys won’t rest players in the all-important Week 18

Given what’s on the line in Week 18, it’s understandable why Jones says the team won’t rest. While winning the division is good and all, first round and home field advantage will be pivotal in the playoffs.

Dallas earned that spot after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16 and the Tennessee Titans in Week 17. And speaking of the Eagles, they’re now 0-2 since quarterback and quarterback Jalen Hurts was sidelined with a sprained shoulder. Philadelphia has lost to Dallas and the New Orleans Saints in the past two weeks.

As for the scenarios for deciding Dallas, they are as follows. The Cowboys can win the NFC East with this weekend’s win over the Washington Commanders and the Eagles’ loss to the Giants. As for the top seed, a first-round bye, and home court advantage, they can do it with a win, a loss to the Eagles, and a 49-second loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

For Cowboys fans wondering if the team would rest their starters, Jones told them all it wouldn’t be. They will try to win the division and hit their home ground throughout the playoffs.
