“I joke about how cool it is that Marvel is ‘bringing us back old timers to sing our greatest hits’ for the LEGENDS series, but it’s a real honor and joy,” said Nocenti. When editors Mark Basso and Drew Baumgartner asked me to write a story with “punk” Storm, I wanted the story to reflect her outfit. I thought of punk musicians like Iggy Pop and the Sex Pistols, and their questionable rebellious attitude. Will Storm rebel against him?” Her special powers? X-Men? Being the team leader?

She continued, “I knew she couldn’t be a classic Stormi, always calm and regal and calm.” It had to be a wild storm, running away from itself. And then I picked up a pile of current X-MEN, and I really liked the new and exciting places the X-Men went, and got inspired by those stories. And Kitty Pryde and the other X-Men about who they’ll become in the future.”
