David Bowie’s handwritten lyrics sell for £70,000 at auction | music | entertainment

The lined A4 sheet contains misspellings, including in the chorus where it reads “balls” instead of “shells”.

Released in 1973, it reached No. 2 in the UK.

Bowie, who died of liver cancer in January 2016, presented the lyrics sheet to Neil Peters, president of the official David Bowie Fan Club in New York.

A bidding battle is expected to ignite at Omega Auctions in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside on February 7.

Auctioneer Dan Hampson said: “The seller has decided to sell after seeing the amazing price achieved when we sold the Starman Words last year for £203,500.

“This will be of great importance to Bowie fans and we’re excited to see what can happen.”
