Baytown Weather: Severe storms and a tornado in southeast Texas left areas battered and without power

Betown, Texas (KTRK) – As severe storm surge swept across the Houston area, residents in Baytown were left without power, and homes were destroyed in the aftermath Tuesday.

“We are very fortunate that no one was injured from the extent of the damage, the hurricane, and the gas leak,” said Ryan Tucker, of the Baytown Fire Department.

At least 15 buildings were affected by the dangerous storms, Tucker said, and fortunately no fatalities were reported.

First responders are on the scene and encourage drivers to use caution when on the roads.

CenterPoint Energy crews can be seen repairing a ruptured gas line from an auto repair shop.

Police told Eyewitness News that power lines, trees and fence lines were damaged in Baytown.
