NBC is bringing classic sci-fi to a whole new generation with… Quantum leap the reboot, which has already become a smash hit since its debut last fall. The series has been remixing some elements of the franchise’s canon in some unexpected ways – and that seems to involve ditching a key element from the original series. In a new interview with TVLineAnd Quantum leap Writer, actress and director Shakina Naivak revealed that the waiting room does not exist in the new incarnation. Apparently, those of Ben Song (Raymond Lee) jump into gaps in time, rather than going into an actual antechamber.
“I think the waiting room is dead,” Naivak explained. “I think the waiting room Quantum leap It’s the ’80s and the ’90s, and we have a different way of saying where the Leap Host goes during the jump.”

in the new Quantum leap, It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett entered the Quantum Leap accelerator and disappeared. Now, a new team, led by physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), has been assembled to restart the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized jump into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. Ben’s side throughout his jumps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears as a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She is a decorated Army veteran which brings precision to her job.
The top-secret operation is led by Herbert “Magic” Williams (Ernie Hudson), a no-nonsense career military man who must answer to his superiors who will not be pleased once they learn of a breach of protocol. The rest of the team at HQ includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the AI unit “Ziggy,” and Gene Chu (Nanresa Lee), who heads up digital security for the project. As Ben leaps from life to life, righting what went wrong, it becomes clear that he and his team are in for an exciting journey. However, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jane know that if they are going to solve the mystery of Ben’s jump and bring him home, they must act quickly or lose him forever.
