Plymouth, Massachusetts – Prosecutors alleged Tuesday that Lindsay Clancy, of Duxbury, Massachusetts. The mother is accused of killing her three childrenHe planned the killings in advance and was sane at the time of their deaths. CBS Boston reports. Clancy is still in hospital and her lawyer says she is paralyzed from the waist down.

Clancy was called by video conference from her hospital bed. Her defense attorney and the attorney general were present in person with a Plymouth County Court judge during the hearing.

The 32-year-old is accused of killing her three young children in their home last month. Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, said she became paralyzed after attempting suicide that night.

Prosecutors said during the trial that Clancy asked her Husband, Patrick, to get children’s medicines from CVS and eat from a restaurant in Plymouth. She allegedly researched how long the trip would be to see how long she would be alone with the kids.

When Clancy’s husband returned, he told the police, he went upstairs and found the couple’s bedroom door locked. He said he managed to open it and found blood in front of a mirror near an open window.

Patrick saw his wife in the backyard conscious but seriously injured and called 911. On the call he can be heard asking his wife what she had done, to which she allegedly replied, “I attempted suicide.”

“where are the children?” Prosecutors said Patrick could be heard asking for a 911 call. Lindsey Clancy allegedly replied, “In the basement.”

Patrick Clancy rushed downstairs, where prosecutors said he could be heard screaming “in pain and shock” when he discovered the children had been suffocated using exercise bands.

“She planned these murders, gave herself the time and privacy to commit these murders, and then strangled each child right where they should have felt safe — at home with their mother,” said Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague.

Reddington said Patrick was not told not to leave her alone with the children.

Prosecutors said that on February 5, Lindsey Clancy used a doctor’s cell phone to call her husband, and left a voicemail saying she loved him. They said she called again a day later, and this time he answered.

Lindsey allegedly told her husband that she “heard a voice and had a ‘psychotic’ moment.” She allegedly told her husband that she had heard a man’s voice telling her to kill their children and herself because “it was her last chance”.

“She’s not okay at all,” Reddington said, and said Lindsey is “definitely a danger to herself.”

Prosecutors demanded that Lindsey be held without bail. Instead, a judge ordered that she be kept in the hospital until she was medically cleared to transfer her to a new rehabilitation facility that would include around-the-clock care. If she recovers from her injuries, she could be placed under house arrest.

Lindsay Clancy received treatment after experiencing suicidal thoughts in December and from January 1-5. She allegedly kept notes resembling journal entries in the months leading up to her children’s deaths. Prosecutors said she “provided accurate details of her daily activities” and that her “writing was clear, precise and detailed”.

Prosecutors said she reported “a touch of postpartum anxiety” about returning to work and was initially diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.

Lindsey Clancy allegedly wrote on a whiteboard while she was hospitalized after the children died, asking if she needed a lawyer. Prosecutors argued that it showed she knew what she had done.

Patrick Clancy said there were no indications his wife was a danger to the children or herself, saying she was “having one of her best days”.

In a statement previously shared via a GoFundMe page on behalf of the family, Patrick Clancy wrote, “The shock and pain are excruciating and relentless. I remember them constantly and with how little sleep I get, I dream about them over and over again.

“Any parent knows, it’s impossible to understand how much you love your children until you have them. The same is true of understanding the devastation of losing them. Cora, Dawson, and Callan have been the core of my life and I am completely lost without them.”
