Two boa constrictors rescued from a fire in an apartment in Alvin

Alvin, Texas (KTRK) – Two leashed rattlesnakes were rescued from an apartment early Monday morning in Alvin after a fire apparently started in their enclosure.

Fire crews returned fire at an apartment on the 800 block of Southeast Street at about 5:15 a.m.

Volunteer firefighters quickly put out the flames and secured the building.

According to officials with the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department, the snake enclosure was badly burned, so an investigation into the exact cause of the fire will begin there.

The fire was contained to one apartment.

While the snake was doing well, the tarantula in the apartment is believed to have died.

None of the firefighters was hurt by the fire, but one was bitten by a dog on the hand.

This firefighter didn’t need to be taken to the hospital and he’s fine.
