Harris County, Texas (KTRK) – Authorities report that a man who stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle at an apartment complex led police on a foot chase before being arrested.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable shared that the alleged crime occurred on February 27, at a complex at the 20500 Cypresswood Drive block.

Authorities received a call from a caller that someone could be heard removing the catalytic converter from a vehicle in the complex.

Once the deputies arrived, they reported finding the front gate damaged and vehicles unable to enter the complex. The deputies reported seeing a black sedan approaching the gate, but the driver backed off when the deputies were spotted. The driver, identified as Tyler Randolph, then got out of the car and fled into the compound, Precinct 4’s office said.

Randolph is later found across from the apartment complex and taken into custody after a foot chase.

The deputies said Randolph had the keys to the black car and admitted to driving the car but denied ownership of it and its contents. A gun, marijuana, chainsaws and catalytic converters were found inside the car.
