A Texas City student at Giles Middle School has been arrested, accused of sending a girl to the hospital after using a knife during a fight

Texas City, TX (KTRK) – In a one-minute video from the Tuesday afternoon fight at Giles Middle School in Texas City, you don’t see any teachers or adults. Off camera, the fight is finally broken up.

The Texas City Independent School District told ABC13 that Royalty Edward, the student who was injured, went to the nurse. The other student is arrested by the vice mayor of the campus.

Kings said she had no past history with the eighth grader. But when the eighth grader swung at her, she fought back. The Kings didn’t know that the other student had a knife.

In a video recorded by the students, you can see the knife, which the school district describes as a pocket knife. The blade appears to be an inch or two long in the video, and the other student swings it at the Kings about a dozen times in the one-minute melee.

“I was like, ‘My back hurts.'” Can you call an ambulance? And they said they (they were) going to take me to the nurse first.”

The school district told Eyewitness News that it contacted Christina Adkins, the Kings mom, and offered to contact EMS.

Adkins said she told the school she would take the Kings herself. She also told ABC13 that the school never offered to contact EMS.

“No! They didn’t mention it once. I kept telling them. I kept asking if they called an ambulance,” Adkins said.

In a letter to parents, the school said one student pulled out a knife and used it against another student, but Adkins and Royalty said it was a stabbing.

When the county office was asked why they didn’t call it a stabbing, they said while they didn’t want to trivialize the situation, the Kings didn’t have deep wounds. Adkins objects to this, informing her daughter needs stitches and other medical care.

“When we got to the emergency room, the doctor was looking at it and said we needed to see how deep it was. Let me do a CT scan and an X-ray,” said Adkins.

Kings sustained injuries to her face, head, back, arm, and abdomen.

The school told ABC13 that the other student will face repercussions as outlined in the Code of Conduct. Adkins, however, wants charges.

“The worst of the worst,” Adkin said. “My daughter was stabbed seven times. You don’t know each other.”

The district has not disclosed if or when the other student will be allowed to return. The Kings go back to school on Friday, but her return is a mixed bag of emotions.
