AEW Star Eddie Kingston leaves the company after Dynamite

Fan-favorite AEW star shocked everyone and left the company after AEW Dynamite went on hiatus. This would be Eddie Kingston, who requested some interview time after Dynamite revealed he was leaving the company. Kingston kept it short and sweet, saying “I’ve left AEW…peace,” and then walked out of the building. As for what happens next, some theorize that he will reveal that he’s full-time with Ring of Honor, which will distance him from former partner-turned-enemy Ortiz, but that’s not clear yet. Meanwhile, Kingston doesn’t seem to be taking sides with AEW.

Now, this is obviously a story, as AEW is sharing this on their social channels and fueling the mystery of all of this. However, there are some who rule out other companies as possible landing sites, but many believe ROH is the obvious destination. It also makes sense, as ROH is now running its own show on Honor Club, so it’s likely that some AEW talent will move to the new show for at least a while.

This all came after the Face of the Revolution match earlier in the night. The winner of the match was scheduled to receive a shot at the TNT Championship next week, and the people in the match included Powerhouse Hobbs, Action Andretti, Sammy Guevara, Commander, Ortiz, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kingston.

Things didn’t go as planned in Kingston so after he slammed a ladder onto Ortiz, Ortiz followed him and they fought all the way down the ramp. This pretty much put them out of the match and it would be Powerhouse Hobbs who would end up taking over the ring and a title opportunity. Kingston may have been frustrated that the match turned into another fight with Ortiz, the aftermath of which occupied most of Kingston’s time over the past two months.

Heading to ROH a bit would be a way to get over it and get a somewhat clean start for Kingston, though there’s nothing to say Ortiz can’t move to ROH as well to finish what the two started. Right now, Kingston isn’t on the Revolution card, but you can find the full card for Sunday’s event below.
