Omar Sharif was usually horrified by Julie Christie on the set of Doctor Zhivago Movies | entertainment

On screen, the gorgeous set pieces looked stunning and convincing as did the central passion affair. But behind the scenes, it was also a lot less glamorous and soulful than it seemed.

Funnily enough, it was Christie’s love of an old-fashioned British egg sandwich that caused the problem, especially when it came to romantic scenes, according to her co-star’s grandson, Omar Sharif Jr.

He said, “My grandfather told me he came from Egypt and had never seen a sandwich but Julie would pull them out all over the place. He said, ‘Where do those come from?'” He said, “about every once in a while, she’d pull out one of these sandwiches. After that she’d have crumbs.” Everywhere and when it’s time to kiss her, she’ll have the same sandwich.”

“She was great but he was like, ‘What’s with this sandwich girl?'” “That’s what I call it, the sandwich girl.”
