Portland, Michigan – Michigan police said as many as 100 vehicles were involved in a massive collision on Interstate 96 during blackout conditions.
Police said on Twitter that there were reports of injuries that did not appear to be serious. Early reports said between 50 and 100 vehicles were involved in an accident Saturday near Portland, a city more than 100 miles (more than 161 kilometers) northwest of Detroit.
Officials posted photos of cars backed up along frozen roads after the accident and said a section of the highway was closed.
The weather has cleared since then, police said, though it is not known when the highway will reopen.
