The alleged scheme first surfaced years ago, when Trump was still in office. The investigation has gained new momentum in recent months, as the Manhattan district attorney’s office convened a grand jury to examine the matter.

A New York grand jury was hearing the case and could vote to hand over an indictment against Trump.

And on Saturday, Trump, who denied the allegations, He said in a social media post that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday.

He added that “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan Attorney General’s Office indicate that “the first Republican candidate and former President of the United States of America will be arrested on Tuesday next week.”

Trump also implored his supporters to protest, saying, “They are killing our nation while we sit back and watch. We must save America! Protest, protest, protest!!!”

The indictment of a former president would be the first in US history as Trump seeks the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
