Violent robbery in Chinatown: Nhung Truong speaks to ABC 13 weeks after he was injured by a teenage suspect

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – On February 13, Nhung Truong was living an ordinary life, but after a vicious robbery in broad daylight, she could no longer walk, she told ABC13 on Saturday.

“After going to the bank and withdrawing the money, I went to Belair, but it happened so quickly that I don’t really remember,” Trung said.

According to the police, the attack was planned by two young men who were arrested and charged. Joseph Harel, 17, is said to be the person caught on camera physically assaulting Truong.

The second suspect, 19-year-old Zeneca Woods, is accused of following Trung more than 20 miles after she withdrew money from the bank and of being the getaway driver.

“I am really afraid that they will come after us because of what happened. I need everyone’s help to get the punishment they deserve,” Trung said.

The family told ABC13 that they are focused on creating a safe space for their mom so she can heal.

Speaking through her daughter Pan, Truong told ABC13 she broke her ribs and fractured her spine, leaving her paralyzed, but she is working to walk again.

“I have to do exercises so that I can walk again,” Trung said.

Harrell is being held on $200,000 bail for this case and $40,000 bail for an armed robbery he allegedly committed 12 days later. Woods is held on a $50,000 bond.

Trung now relies on her three children and her mother to help care for her. A grueling two weeks, she tells us, she hopes Woods and Harrell face the consequences of the attack.

“I’m glad I can live with my family again, but it’s very upsetting that I can’t walk,” Trung said.
