Since its release in February 2022, Elden Ring has conquered the gaming scene and has sold more than 20 million copies. With a new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion on the way, FromSoftware’s fine opus doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down anytime soon. Recently, the title’s publisher shared a series of fun stats that reveal how often players have died trying to kill the game’s bosses.

According to statistics, more than 329 million players have died trying to defeat Malinia, Blade of Mikaela. Also known as the Lady of Rot, Malenia now holds the title of deadliest boss in FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed RPG.

Her record follows the game’s first great boss, Margit the Fell Omen, who extinguished the tiny flame of more than 281 million players. Then the list continues with Limgrave Tree Sentinel, Radagon of the Golden Orger, and Starscourge Radahn. It’s also worth noting that there have been nearly six billion boss attempts since the game’s inception.

The number of players who die during boss battles is massive. But they make up only 69% of the total number of more than nine billion player deaths. Interesting stats show that 15% of players died due to status effects like Scarlet Rot, Madness, Death Blight, and more. And 14% of them fell to their deaths from the lofty heights of the lands between. And finally, 2% of fellow troopers are killed by other players during invasions.

Bandai Namco’s infographic also reveals players’ favorite spells and spells. The Rock Sling seems to have been the go-to mascot for most players during their dangerous endeavors in The Lands Between. For the latter, Blessing of the Erdtree takes the crown as the most-earned spell in the Elden Ring. This is normal though as this solid spell provides massive HP recovery which is essential during Tarnished’s journey.

Thanks to the announcement of the title’s new DLC, more players are returning to the shattered lands of the Elden Ring, too. So there is no doubt that these millions of victims will continue to increase astronomically.
