Amazfit’s T-Rex Ultra presents the brand’s most ambitious effort yet

You don’t hear much about the Amazfit, but the company has slowly built its brand over the past six or seven years, offering affordable fitness wearables, and even moving its products to physical retail locations in the US. Although the company offers a variety of health-oriented smartwatches and fitness bands, it seems like it really wanted to try to set itself apart from the pack and has now introduced its latest effort, the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra.

The Amazfit Ultra’s 1.39 inch AMOLED display can drive up to 1000 nits of brightness, making it easy to read, even in the brightest environments. With durability in mind, the watch is made of steel and while the company doesn’t share any official rating details on what types of protection it has against the elements, it does mention that it has passed military grade tests, making it able to withstand the elements. Extreme temperatures, brutal corporal punishment, and more. In addition, it also has special devices in place that are meant to keep debris and sediment out.

If you’re someone who likes to go on long walks, the watch packs dual-band GPS for accurate route tracking, and support for offline maps. As you might expect from a smartwatch with the “Ultra” moniker, you will get some additional features, such as EN13319 and ISO6245 certifications, which will allow you to dive up to 100 meters while retaining the functionality of the watch. Of course, you’ll get the usual physical activities that you can track with the watch like running, walking, and jogging, and it can also automatically detect 25 different exercises, which makes it convenient when trying to track your workout. Heart rate, stress, and sleep tracking are just some of the other things you can track as well.

Battery life is very poor here, but nothing out of the ordinary for an Amazfit product, as the Ultra offers up to 20 days of battery life on a single charge. If you want to max it out, you can turn on its Endurance GPS mode, and even then, you’ll still get more than three days of use, which is nice. Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a smartwatch unless you had the ability to customize the experience. Ultra offers over 120 watch faces to choose from, so you’re bound to find something. The watch comes in two colors, Abyss Black and Sahara, and has a price tag of $400.
