Trump calls for “the final battle in 2024” at his first official campaign rally

Waco, Texas Former President Donald Trump promised that the “final battle will be in 2024” and that he would overcome the accusations against him, as he held his first official rally in Waco, Texas, on Saturday.

“They’re not coming after me — they’re going to follow you and I’m going to get in their way because in 2024, we’ll have the biggest victory of them all,” Trump told the wide audience of several thousand in Waco. regional airport.

Although the rally was previously scheduled, it came only a week after Trump to publish Via social media that he is expected to be arrested last Tuesday. However, the week came and went without any indictment or arrest, but that didn’t deter the crowd in Waco.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg investigated Trump on charges of falsifying business records in connection with the payout of “hidden money” to adult film star Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election. Trump has maintained his innocence and has denied any relationship with Daniels.

At Saturday’s rally, he said, “I’ve never liked horse face,” an apparent reference to Daniels, and then said, “We have a great first lady,” referring to his wife, Melania Trump.

“And people see it as a bull****, and they go and say, ‘It’s unfair! But it’s happening by the cycle of injustice,'” Trump said.

In a speech that lasted nearly 90 minutes, Trump said the “biggest threat” to the US was not China or Russia, but US leaders including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, fellow Republican, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, President Biden, and former President House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“In many ways, these patients are a greater threat, because we can deal with China,” Trump said.

The former president blamed the Biden administration for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “doesn’t want to do it” and “wants to get a piece” of Ukraine.

“Now it looks like he’s probably going to end up having it all,” said Trump, who has claimed he can end the war after winning the 2024 election and before taking office.

Take a few swipes at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another potential Republican nominee in 2024. DeSantis, in his estimation, was criticized by the former president for her failure to win back his loyalty. Trump endorsed DeSantis prior to his successful bids for governor in 2018 and 2022.

Noting that DeSantis is not doing well in opinion polls, Trump has said Florida has been successful “for many years”, and “a long time” before DeSantis became governor.

“Florida has been successful for decades,” he said.

Some in the crowd said they loved DeSantis, but didn’t want him to take on Trump in 2024.

“I really love [DeSantis]”It does a lot in Florida,” said Jodi Campbell, who drove more than six hours with her husband Ken for the rally. But both Campbells, who are retired, said they want DeSantis to wait.

“I loved him until that,” said Kane, the final snipe with Trump.

“I love DeSantis,” attendee Carrie Olivarez told CBS News. “But I believe that only Trump can change the course of this country and get it back on track.”

The Manhattan investigation is one of several investigations into Trump. Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Jack Smith as special counsel to oversee investigations into Trump’s handling of classified documents, and the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Trump did not directly refer to the Jan. 6 attack or his supporters who were arrested in connection with it, though he did come out to the national anthem sung by “J6 Choir.”

One Trump supporter, Dolores Duderstadt of San Antonio, called those in jail due to a Jan. 6 conviction or guilty plea “political prisoners.”

Some Trump supporters at a rally on Saturday dismissed the Manhattan DA investigation. He said it was “political”.

“It’s all politically motivated, every part of it,” Olivarez said.

“I think Alvin Bragg should be arrested and put in jail,” said Darwin Fanfall, a Trump supporter. We are tired of Trump taking all the slings and arrows.

Trump’s rally came during the founding’s 30th anniversary Face Waco Between the FBI and the Branch Davidians, a religious cult. The 51-day siege began on February 28, 1993, and resulted in the deaths of 86 people.
