An IAH swarm takes off with a 3-hour flight delay. This is what happened next.

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Delta Air Lines said a flight from Houston to Atlanta was delayed by three hours due to a swarm of bees.

Pictures circulating on Twitter show a large group of bees on the wing of a Delta plane.

A traveler posted about the situation on social media. Video and photos show crews on the ground trying various methods to remove the bees, including blowing exhaust from another vehicle to try to get rid of them.

Finally, the pilot ran the engines to see if pushing backwards out of the gate would do anything – and it worked!

A statement from Delta said the flight was delayed but eventually went on its way without an additional crowd of passengers.

It was not immediately known what exactly attracted the bees about the steel bird.
