Half Baked 2 gets a new title

Half Baked: Perfectly Roasted It just received an R rating from the Motion Picture Association, which comes along with its official title, which was previously unknown. The movie will be a legacy sequel, with half baked Cast: Rachel True returns as Mary Jane and comedian Harland Williams as Kenny Davis. Original stars Dave Chappelle and Jim Brewer aren’t expected to return or even make cameo appearances in the film.

Half Baked: Perfectly Roasted It hails from Universal 1440, a division of NBCUniversal that focuses on finding low-budget ways to use the company’s intellectual property. Their films and shows generally go live, allowing Universal to gauge audience interest in the property without spending the kind of money needed to produce a movie ready for theatrical release.

At the time of the announcement, Universal 1440 revealed that the film had already finished production and was in post-production with an aim for a 2023 release.

As originally billed, Darden is set to play JR, the son of Dave Chappelle’s Thurgood Jenkins. In the film, JR and his best friends Miles (Storm) and Corey (Young) are trying to figure out how to get money to bury their friend Bruce (Courtney), who died from smoking the world’s toughest joint.

According to FilmRatings.com, Half Baked: Perfectly Roasted It is rated R for drug use throughout, sexual content, language, graphic nudity and some violence.

Labyrinth star Dexter Darden will star in the film, appearing alongside Moses Storm (It’s All Trash), Ramona Young (I Never Do It), Ash Santos (True Story), Joel Courtney (The Kissing Booth), and Anchorman star David Kushner. Frankie Muniz and comedian Jeff Ross will also make “special appearances.” Michael Tedis directs from a script by Justin Hyres.
