The internet is obsessed with Gollum’s massive reduction in the new Lord Of The Rings game

The internet has become obsessed with Gollum’s massive visual reduction in Daedalic Entertainment’s latest title, The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum, and rightfully so.

The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum has already become the worst reviewed game of 2023, mainly due to its uninteresting story, poor level design, clunky controls, and a large number of bugs and glitches. But there’s one thing the internet is struggling with: Why was Gollum so downgraded from the game’s marketing materials?

You may have noticed two pictures circulating on Twitter of The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum. The first is a promotional image released prior to the game’s launch, and the second is an actual in-game screenshot. They both look completely different.

Twitter user Lady Emily He took to Twitter, saying, “Totally obsessed with this screenshot from Gollum. I can’t stop thinking about it.” Followed by an in-game image showing a rather strange-looking Gollum. Many of the responses found the image hilarious, while some simply couldn’t believe it was an in-game screenshot.

“No way is this real. I’ve never looked at this game and refuse to believe this is real,” one response reads, while another points out the outrageous use of Calibri font in the image, “I think Calibri’s use of font is just *chef’s kiss* .”

Other Twitter users, such as lumpyI also found the difference between the marketing photos and the full version to be pretty bad. “This Gollum has never been so great, but damn it if this isn’t the most entertaining ‘alpha vs definitive edition’ since perhaps the first Watch Dogs.” Again, many of the responses didn’t believe what they were seeing, with one user simply saying, “Is this real? Sounds like a joke.”

As for GamesRadar Alex Avard, calling it one of the worst games they’ve had in a while. Alex went on to say, “If you can’t be bothered reading the full review, the difference between this promotional screenshot and the actual game gives you a decent summation of why.”

There’s no doubt about it, The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is one of the worst games of the year, but at least it made us all laugh, I guess?
