Houston, Texas (KTRK) – We already know temps are on the rise, and there’s a chance the Texas power grid may not hold up.
In an effort to be more open and transparent, the Electrical Reliability Board of Texas (ERCOT) has launched a new dashboard that will provide up-to-date information on the state’s power grid to make sure Texans are prepared.

ABC13 first reported in early May that the Public Utilities Commission, which oversees ERCOT, said peak demand this summer will exceed the amount it can generate, meaning the network may not hold up.
This scenario could happen based on historical data and forecasts. It’s a very fragile situation.

However, this is why they released these tools in hopes of informing the public in advance.
TXANS is intended to serve as a hub for keeping the public informed about the state’s power grid. It also introduced the “ERCOT Weather Watch,” which will provide the public with at least three to five days early notice when high demand is expected.
The head of ERCOT said that this new tool aims to provide clear and reliable notifications ahead of extreme weather conditions where high demand on the network is possible.
