Samsung’s next generation of foldable devices will be revealed in the Galaxy Unpacked in July

Samsung has made things official, sharing that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place in late July. This year, for the first time in the company’s history, the event will be hosted in South Korea, where the company’s headquarters are located. While we don’t know for sure what’s going to happen, the company is talking big, stating that it will “show off groundbreaking technologies” at its upcoming event.

The company shared that it will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam. TM Roh, President and Business Manager Mobile eXperience (MX) at Samsung Electronics, revealed why Unpacked is so important, saying:

“The foldable category embodies Samsung’s philosophy of delivering groundbreaking, boundary-pushing innovations to reshape the future of mobile experiences. Hosting Unpacked in Seoul is significant because it is a city that has become an emerging hub for innovation and culture as well as the foldable category.”

Despite being based in South Korea, Samsung has yet to hold an event in its home country. In the past, the company has held events all over the world, with some recent events taking place in New York and San Francisco. The company said it is changing its direction for Unpacked events moving forward to “focus on various leading cultural cities around the world that align closely with each event’s specific theme.”

Samsung was one of the first companies to introduce foldable smartphones to the consumer market. Despite its retail dominance in regards to foldable smartphones, many believe that the company has been complacent. While it took a while for others to catch up, we’ve already seen some great foldable smartphones this year that are just miles ahead of Samsung’s current offerings, like the Moto Razr+, Oppo Find N2 Flip, Honor Magic Vs, and many more. We hope Samsung will live up to its word, introducing new foldable devices that will once again capture the hearts of tech enthusiasts and consumers alike.
