Will WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins defend his NXT Championship after challenging Bron Breaker?

Seth Rollins was crowned the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Night of Champions after defeating AJ Styles, and has since already defended his title against Damian Priest. Rumors have it that he’s not done with Judgment Day, but tonight’s episode of WWE NXT threw an unexpected wrench into any opponent’s expectations for the champ. In the final moments of NXT, Bron Breaker was approached for an interview, and he launched a promo about Ilja Dragunov. However, that split into a promo on Rollins, and he was challenging him to come to NXT and put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

The Breaker started at Dragunov, saying “Why did I attack Ilja Dragunov? Because I’m not going to let Ilja spit some rubbish about how he’s the toughest guy in WWE. Are you kidding? I’m going to start holding everyone accountable, all the way from top to bottom, okay?”

“And speaking of the road to the top, how about WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Frickin’ Rollins,” Breakin said. Monday Night Rollins. The backbone of WWE. You know what, how about proving it? Because you know how we do things here, because you were the first ever NXT Champion and you were the most dominant NXT Champion. So why don’t you come over here and put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship down At stake against me?”

So, the question is will Rollins not only appear on NXT but also put the title on the line? Rollins has already shown he’s a fighting champ, and Breaker looks like he’s headed to the main roster at any time. Perhaps this is a way to plant seeds for a feud between the two down the line, or Breaker could end up helping someone else in their quest to eliminate Rollins and take his title (if Breaker ends up on Monday Night Raw).

We’ve also seen a massive influx of WWE Superstars appearing on NXT, with tonight’s episode alone featuring Mustafa Ali, Baron Corbin, and Dana Brooke. Last year we also saw appearances by The New Day, Ricochet, Natalya, Rhea Ripley, Raquel Rodriguez, Apollo Crews, and more, so anything is possible.

It will be interesting to see where WWE goes from here. Rumor has it that Rollins will face Finn Balor for the title at Money in the Bank, which makes sense since he already took on a priest for the title. That doesn’t mean he can’t have other one-off matches, especially if they help plant things for future storylines. Additionally, WWE seems to want to get this title out in front of everyone in a big way to cement its importance, and the more you watch it and talk about it in such a reverent way, the more famous and less overshadowed it becomes.

Not going to lie, Rollins vs Breaker would be a compelling match in its own right, and getting in the ring with someone like Rollins would help any NXT Superstar, including Breaker. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but Rollins on NXT would definitely be big news if that happens.
