Disneyland begins testing the free-roaming robot Groot

Disneyland has been a staple of technological advancement with all of their rides and attractions, so it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary if they brought a Marvel hero to life. Marvel and the theme park have announced that they will be bringing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Groot comes to life via a free bot, and it’s cool to see. In the video, Groot jumps on stage next to Star-Lord and starts dancing. You can watch Robo Groot’s video below.

“We’re a storytelling company, so we want to bring these characters to life in the most authentic way possible.” Joel Peavy, executive director of research and development for The Walt Disney Company’s Imagination Research and Development Company, is revealed in Video Groot. “For us, that means a walking robotic actor… who can move, gesticulate, and emotion with style.”

“Ideally, we want guests to get excited, but this is the first time I’ve seen guests so visibly excited — old and young,” Michael Serna, executive creative director of Disney Live Entertainment, added. “It’s awful to watch and understand how unique and fun he is.”

Vin Diesel on Groot’s last words in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 features some pretty huge moments for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as wrapping up the trilogy that began nearly ten years ago. One of those moments happened to be when Groot (Vin Diesel) finally spoke English. Previously, while on the red carpet at the world premiere of X is fastDiesel spoke with Entertainment Tonight about that big moment in Groot and discussed what it means for the movie.

“You know, just… on that front, it was absolutely amazing because it meant the audience was now able to understand the slang, the language of this giant Flora, and that’s a testament to the 10 years of loyalty that we have.” I was very lucky on that. The franchise has the character of Groot and the patience to make people wait that long for someone to say three words. But, like all things alive, with patience and devotion.
