Summer continues with new gaming deals Ghost Festival streamwhich offers some great titles to basically spare change.
My attention was immediately drawn to my trio The original thief games, which can be had for $1 each (or as little as 80p in the UK). These games may be old, but they provide a glimpse into how stealth games we know today came to be, and are still worth checking out. Zen fact, I’m planning on getting all three and wrangling my Steam Deck to get them to work.
For those of you who don’t know, the original Thief series centered around master thief Garret, who goes around stealing valuables from unsavory characters in a medieval city where steampunk meets. But as the story progresses, Garrett finds himself up against religious and supernatural factions.
While Garret can’t stay long in a straight fight, abilities like moss arrows that cover a wooden floor with sonic moss allow him to slip through all sorts of armed opponents as if he’d never been there. All three games are very much masters of pure stealth and paved the way for immersive sims like Dishonored.
Speaking of which, it’s somewhat underrated (in my opinion) Deus Ex: Invisible War can also be obtained for 1/69p dollarswhich is a heist game that has an interesting story and some immersive smart sim elements.
For PC gamers who want something a little more modern, I highly recommend Hitman World of Assassination trilogy; It’s now 50% off, bringing it down to $39 / £29. Not only are Hitman games about hiding in plain sight, but they also offer a huge amount of replayability, one-off assassination missions, competitive modes, and much more. I’ve lost, and can still lose, hours and hours nailing the most brilliant assassinations in locations that wouldn’t look out of place in a James Bond movie.
On top of all that, Steam Stealth Fest also has loads of collection from Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs Legion, Sniper Elite 5, multiple Far Cry games, and more.
So if you’re a fan of stealth games or some of the best games in general, you should really check out Steam Stealth Fest, which runs from today through July 31st.
