Apex Legends Season 20 will also mark the title’s fifth anniversary, meaning fans can once again jump into the yearly anniversary event. Kicking off alongside the new season on February 13th, the fifth-anniversary event will feature a new community-created reward tracker, plenty of new cosmetic items, and a new limited-time mode: Straight Shot. This new LTM is the same classic Battle Royale that fans know and love but with a much faster pace and shorter sessions.
For those just eager to jump in as soon as possible, here’s everything you need to know about the release time for Apex Legends Season 20.
What Time Does Apex Legends Season 20 Start?
Apex Legends Season 20 will be released on Tuesday, February 13th, Respawn Entertainment has confirmed. Players can expect the update to launch at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT on the day of release.
However, it is worth noting that PlayStation users may receive the update roughly 24 hours beforehand. This does not mean that you’ll get to check out all of the new content first, as the update will simply be a pre-load to save you some time when the season officially launches.
Apex Legends Season 20 At A Glance
Before you get your panties in a twist over the fact that there’s no new Legend, Battle Royale map, or weapon coming with Season 20, there are some monumental changes that are worth checking out. Here’s everything coming to Apex Legends: Breakout, at a glance.
As players earn EVO throughout a match, they will now level up their Legend, improve their armor tier, and unlock unique upgrade selections. This new feature will be limited to Battle Royale, with details on each Legend’s upgrade tree coming with the Season 20 patch notes on February 12th.
Legend Armor And Shield Cores
Body Shields have been removed and are no longer a loot item. Replacing them is ‘Legend Armor’, which will be automatically equipped to all Legends and will increase in capacity as they level up.
Legend Armor will be fueled by Shield Cores and can be swapped out or dropped at any time. As there’s a lot to know when it comes to earning EVO and how Shield Cores work, we recommend checking out the full details on the EA website.
Some big changes are in store for Apex Legends’ ranked mode, as Respawn says it has heard feedback and knows that “there are a few things that need attention.”
Level requirement for ranked will be taken back down to 20, alongside the return of splits and seasonal resets. Each player will also start at 1RP with the launch of the new season later this week. Players can expect changes to scoring, bonuses, matchmaking, and tier structure.
New Mixtape Map: Thunderdome
Thunderdome is brand-new inspired by the first arena in Kings Canyon. Available in any Mixtape mode, Thunderdome is a floating sky stadium based around three different lanes for players to pursue. Respawn says this map was created “with a plethora of playstyles in mind.”
120Hz For Current-Gen Consoles
A highly requested feature is finally making its debut with Season 20: sweet, sweet 120 FPS gameplay on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If your monitor or television supports 120Hz, simply head to the video settings option and enable performance mode to get up to 120 FPS.
