Just like the beginning, the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever paid tribute to the late great Chadwick Boseman, whose death shocked the world two years ago. While Schori finally had a sad moment in Haiti, T’Challa’s footage from the first movie emerged as a loving tribute. But then came the mid-credits scene and its shocking revelation.
Shuri joins Laetitia Wright on the beach, where she burns her funeral robe, Nakia Lupita Nyong’o.
She brought with her a young boy, who she revealed was her son from the late King T’Challa. The baby is called Tosiant, but his Wakanda name is T’Challa after his father.
It turns out that Nakia and the original Black Panther decided their son should grow up away from the pressures of the throne for now, including losing his funeral.
In the Wakandan dynasty, there is a challenge to fight for the throne, even though Shuri is supposed to remain king until T’Challa Jr reaches adulthood.
Introducing the boy is a smart move by Marvel, who decided not to recast the role of Chadwick but pay tribute to him instead. With this in mind, our best bet is that Shuri will finish this solo trilogy with Black Panther 3.
Then, in a decade or so, T’Challa Jr will be old enough to become the King of Wakanda and have a solo trilogy. In this way, the stories that would have been told about T’Challa as Black Panther with Chadwick can later take place through his son.
