All you missed in “Next Time Fire”

last week in SparkleBarry revealed his identity as The Flash to Central City Police Captain Kramer, partnering the speedster with law enforcement and giving them a way to contact him so they can better help people. This week, with Goldface back in custody, things are back to normal in Central City, but a new crime and subsequent investigation will lead those closest to Barry to question his objectivity about a murder suspect while, at Citizen Media, Allegra is given a professional opportunity to offer her its own challenges.

With Sparkle Recently renewed for Season 9, Season 8 of The CW’s long-running series is in full swing this week, but if you missed tonight’s episode, “The Fire Next Time,” don’t worry. We’ve got you covered in all the details from the episode with our summary, but be warned: There are complete spoilers behind this point!

It’s closing time at the bar, and when a staff member shuts down for the night and starts to leave, he’s threatened by an invisible force: a bar stool so inexplicably hot that it burns it, the jukebox starts, and then the liquids begin to boil before the clerk attacks something like Smoke or steam fills the room. The next day at Barry and Iris’s house, she proposes dinner plans and then realizes it’s an important day for him even though he tries to shrug it off as just another day. At the tavern, Barry and Chester investigate the murder of the pub’s manager, Stanley, and confirm it was a dead attack, but an unusual one. Barry shows the worker who found Stanley’s photo of Jaco Birch/The Hotness and confirms that this is the person she saw arguing with Stanley earlier in the evening.

At The Citizen, Iris gives Allegra a specific profile job that Allegra had previously turned down, but one of Allegra’s employees, Taylor, went behind her back to suggest it to Iris. Iris agreed and then told Allegra that she needed to meet the subject – a local influencer – with the employee who had gone behind her back. Elsewhere in Central City, Jaco tries to impress his son, but fails to do so. Police appear to arrest him for murder. When the police also try to get his son out of the scene, Jacko lights up, upset that he might lose his son again and tells The Flash that he did nothing wrong. The Flash contains flashbacks of the night his already innocent father was captured.

At Cecil’s office, Barry takes her advice and is very clear that she is not sure whether Jaco committed the crime. There is no conclusive evidence that Jaco committed the crime and Barry is not convinced. He thinks something is wrong and asks Cecil to meet him to read his feelings, but she says she can’t cross this moral line.

Allegra and Taylor Interview with Influencer, Rosie, and Allegra isn’t into that much and resents being there. She quickly leaves the table to speak with a Jitters employee she knew in prison. However, the employee, Lydia, is upset about Allegra’s success while she struggles with menial, low-paying jobs. Nobody will hire Lydia because of her criminal record. Allegra says she wants to help her by sharing her story with the world.

In prison, Cecil meets Jaco who is very worried about his son. He explains that he has put his life together and gets out of prison early for the good behavior of his son. He states that he fought with Stanley because Stanley installed him at half the purchase price on the guitar he was selling so he could buy his son tickets to the concert. He says he came home after the argument and insists he didn’t kill Stanley. She later tells Cecil that Jaco doesn’t have much to defend, but her guts tell her he thinks he’s innocent. Moments later, they are told that Jaco has escaped custody. He immediately goes to confront the witness.

Team Flash is also not sure that Jaco is innocent and tries to impress Barry that jailbreaking doesn’t look good to him. Then they are injured by a fire outside the bar and Flash and Frost head there. They find the burning stele, but Frost notices that the fire is not responding to its cold powers. At The Citizen, Allegra is excited about her story, but her employee is upset. Pari gets some reports from the scene of the second crime and says that they match the evidence from the first murder and do not match Jaco because they are too accurate and cannot be replicated with the way Jaco works the forces. Flash’s team confronts Barry and suggests he’s not thinking clearly. For Barry, this case is personal because of what happened to his father about his mother’s murder when he was a child.

Joe visits Barry at his police lab. The team is worried about Barry and Joe says he is not well. It happens on Henry Allen’s birthday. Barry tells Joe that The Hotness had the same look in his eyes that his father did the night he was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit and that he believed The Hotness didn’t kill anyone. Joe says that maybe Pari sees something that others can’t because of what he’s been through and tells him not to give up yet. After that, Barry received a message that Chester had found something.

In The Citizen, Allegra presents her story to Iris and she loves the story, but is not happy. Allegra wrote something other than Rosie’s story. Since Allegra didn’t help Taylor meet Rosie, Taylor’s story isn’t all that great. Iris told Allegra that she was trying to teach her how to be a mentor and mentor and Allegra didn’t. She tells Allegra that she has to fix things with Taylor. At STAR Labs, Chester and Frost tells Barry that he was right, Fire of Crimes is a cold fusion, and thus, Jaco is innocent because his powers are different. Now it’s a race against time to clear his name before he does something stupid.

Cue the stupid thing. Jaco faces transportation with his son to take care of the care once again. Harold confronts his father and Jaco agrees with his son. He’s a total loser and all he wanted was to get his life together. He says he doesn’t care anymore because no matter what he does, they will always think he is a killer. Flash appears and prevents him from doing something and tells him that they have found evidence that proves his innocence, but he has to stop so that no one gets hurt. While they are standing there, the ground begins to shake. It turns out that Jaku’s powers are bound to the ground below wherever he is and he’s causing a strange volcano. The flash has a very limited time to turn off. Jaco will have to soak up the heat and The Flash gives him a pep talk. They are as a team. The flash goes underground to release pressure by introducing the water table into the magma and Jaku absorbs heat. The day is saved. Jaco’s heroic deed impresses his son.

Jaco gets custody of his son, so he and his son get another chance. Allegra goes to talk to Taylor, who is upset and upset by what Allegra has done. Taylor insults Allegra about her prison experience and then tells Allegra that she plans to destroy her. In the West House, everyone remembers Henry Allen in honor of his birthday. As the episode closes, Team Flash tries to find out who the real killer is, and they use the data to try and find more victims should they deal with a dead serial killer.
