Jujutsu Kisen You’ve given up great excitement for Yuta Okkotsu and Rika’s next stand-up with a cliffhanger from the new chapter of the series! Gege Akutami’s original manga series continues to make its way through the climax of battles within the Sendai colony, and fans have been able to see that Culling Game Yuta has become much stronger than what we saw in action during the events of the prequel series. He had undergone a great test with some powerful magicians, and had reached the limits of his various abilities and powers.
Yuta has been battling against Ryu Ishigori and Takako Uro so far as the highly experienced fighters have managed to survive and fend off each of Yuta’s attempts, same case for his use of Rika as well. This led to a moment of great desperation at the end of the previous chapter which saw all three fighters attempt to activate their domain expansions at the same time, and the latest chapter in the series takes that desperation even further as Yuta is quickly running out of options against the two.
Chapter 179 of Jujutsu Kisen Moving right after Yuta, Ryu, and Takako activate their domain expansions, it is soon revealed that Ryu and Takako were simply trying to counter Yuta Rika’s abilities by trapping him inside their barrier and separating him from his shikigami. But with their three efforts, they were quickly canceled and overloaded as their domain barriers shattered and pushed them to the ground below. Then it was explained that the cursed techniques “burn” after expanding the domain, thus this means that Yuta also cannot use his technique.
Despite the chaos of taking Takako out of the equation, it is revealed that Ryu still has full access to his technique despite using it to expand the field. Yuta has yet to be revamped, so he and Rika have now run out of techniques and pretty much every option as the last moments of the class see them stand against Ryu in the next stage of the fight. Given how difficult Ryu really is, it is not a given how this fight will go yet.
