Here’s what we know about Gear Fifth (so far)

One piece He has an anime fan base in a tight grip these days, and we have Monkey D. Luffy to thank. After all, the hero took over the world last weekend when the manga came out in its new form. As Chapter 1045 sits on the horizonFans are waiting to see how Gear Fifth will play, so here’s what we know about the boost now.

First, we know that the power-up came after Luffy was defeated during his battle with Kaido. The pirate was on his last legs when Kaido went to attack, and CP0 assured that the leader of the Beasts Pirates would win by interfering with Luffy. Back then, it looked as if Luffy had been killed in combat, but the devil fruit woke up at the last moment with a second wind.

According to the World Government, Gomu Gomu no Mi is the name Luffy Fruit remembers in history, but his real name is Hito Hito no Mi: Nika. It is the legendary Zun Fruit, and is said to have a mind of its own. The fruit has eluded world government for centuries, and no one has awakened it for 800 years. All of this changed when Luffy tapped into his true strength, and the fruit gave off some wild power.

Hito Hito no Mi is said to give unlimited energy that is only limited by the user’s imagination. As for Luffy, his body still maintains his rubbery nature and enhanced strength, but he can now lend this characteristic to things as well. Gear Fifth also gives Luffy a very cartoonish design, and he can take advantage of other Gear technologies. For example, Luffy uses inflated limbs during his fight with Kaido after awakening his fruit, and his regular heartbeat keeps his morale high during the fight.

As for his physical appearance, the Gear Fifth doesn’t do much for his slender build. However, Luffy has fiery hair and wide golden eyes. Smoke also lined his clothes as he entered the state. Luffy also acts more childish than usual in Gear Fifth, and the manga goes on to suggest that the pirate perfectly embodies freedom while wielding strength.
