All of the Disney parks here in the United States are slowly returning to normal operations after the past two years of closures and changes due to the pandemic. Large capacities are back, indoor attractions have reopened, and mask mandates have been relaxed. Disneyland and Walt Disney World continue to take steps to get back to where they were before the pandemic began, and another major step appears to be coming in the near future.
According to a report from Walt Disney World News todayAnd Disneyland and Disney World are finally bringing back the standard meet-and-greet character that guests love so much. Character Meet-and-Greets have been back for a while, but have been referred to as Character Views, where guests can only interact with characters from a distance. This new report indicates that Disney is looking to return to the classic meet-and-greet format, allowing guests to cuddle, and pose for close-up photos with the characters.
There has been no official announcement from Disney about the return of the Meet-and-greet service, but Disney Parks Instagram appears to be teasing a comeback with a recent post. There will be something more tangible from House of Mouse on Thursday, and it’s likely that they’ll reveal exactly when those character experiences return.
The return of meet-and-greets couldn’t come at a better time for the Disney parks. As the weather gets warmer and summer approaches, more and more guests are planning to go out and visit the parks. In addition to the big summer crowds, Disney World is also in the middle of celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Disneyland is rolling out new Marvel characters at the Avengers Campus.
Disney World recently opened Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive two-night Star Wars experience that puts guests at the center of the action. This summer, Marvel is making its way to the Orlando, Florida theme park in the form of a new EPCOT attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.
